Personal Fanart, Star Wars Visions: The Duel (2024)

Fanart inspired by Star Wars Vision's Episode 1: The Duel - as a continuation of my series exploration. This was my attempt to envision Ronin's sabers and collected Kyber from defeated Sith over the years. 

Ever since I first saw "The Duel," I knew that I would do my own rendition of Ronin's lightsaber. I was simply blown away by Star Wars Visions as a whole, as it encompasses one of the things I love most - alternate versions of something well known & giving a completely different take on the existing view, and in a variety of styles.

Ronin's lightsaber was so unique to me the first time I saw it, it truly captivated my imagination and I knew I had to see it in my own version, as if it were in a game. I tried to stay faithful to Takashi Okazaki's legendary design, but took a few liberties here & there for funsies. 

Ronin's lightsaber is part of a small series I've been working on in my spare time that served as a pc upgrade test originally, but has seemingly turned into a type of love letter Fanart project as I'm hoping to complete a version of Genbara's environment eventually. I highly recommend checking out the episode, reading the comic by Takashi Okazaki, and reading the book by Emma Mieko Candon. I had an absolute blast getting lost in these works! 

For those unfamiliar with Ronin's lightsaber design - He is former sith wandering the galaxy. His lightsaber design is unique in the Star Wars universe and is best described by this quote from the book, "The Ronin retracted the blade of the scabbard auxiliary he usually kept at his waist, then reattached it to his sash. The unlovely length of durasteel and component parts looked nothing like the handsome hilt of the lightsaber he more usually wielded. That was its strength. Not even the opponents who should have known better suspected that he carried more than one red blade. "
