Kabutowari

Personal Fanart, Naruto:Redux - Seven Swords of the Mist, (2026)

Kabutowari, aptly named "Helmet Splitter" earned the title of "bluntsword" by not being a traditional sword at all - but rather consisting of an axe & hammer combo, linked end to end by a flat leather-like rope. Kabutowari is said to be able to break through any defense by first directly using its sharp axe blade, and also benefiting from a secondary blunt force to drive it through whatever is on it's cutting end. The special chakra conducive metal located on the axe & hammer pins are said to magnify it's impact force one-thousand fold. The motion is similar to how a blacksmith forges the steel it uses to cut with.

The value of Kabutowari lies in it's ability to cut through anything and everything. The Legend grew, that there was no defense the Kabutowari could not penetrate. It was said to have been passed down by originators that were blacksmith's tasked with producing the finest metal within Kirigakure. That blacksmith background is what paved the way for the atypical axe & hammer combination among the group of Seven Blades of the Mist.

I took liberties with Kabutowari's design as it is one of my personal favorites of the Seven Swords. I wanted to imagine something battle tested with both the ability to cut as well as be hit (like a hammer & forge), and took reference from blacksmith anvils. The duality of a cutting blade with a hammer that was used to forge the metal of the blade itself is just a cool idea to me!
